Our girls live in one of 13 well appointed cabins complete with electricity, bathrooms and hot/cold running water. The cabins are also equipped with thermostat-controlled heaters to take the chill out of a cool northern Wisconsin evening.
Our administrative staff live in the Main Lodge affectionately named the “Isle of View”. The lodge is everyone’s living room and is where our main offices are located. It is here that our girls come in and out of daily whether to check on their schedule, visit with the administrative staff or just to get a piece of fresh fruit in between activities. It has a comfortable living room area, a staff retreat and even a large kitchen for the camps cooking class. On Sunday mornings, campers can be found here lounging in their pajamas, playing jacks and laughing with other members of their Marimeta family as they would at their own home on a weekend morning. Monday thru Saturday, the main office is hustling and bustling with campers and counselors planning and conducting their daily schedules.
Two nurses and a weekly physician and their families live next door to the lodge in our Health Center. It is here that everyone comes if they are not feeling well or to take their daily medication should that be necessary. It’s a lovely little cottage where all of our health needs are met. Upstairs in the same building is our Arts and Crafts room – a favorite activity by all.
On the other side of the lodge is the Mess Hall – a bright and clean dining room with round tables where wonderful conversation and nutritious and delicious meals are had daily. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are favorite times for all at Marimeta. Our wonderful chefs serve food with a flair for even the pickiest of eaters. Laughter, song and cheer complete our lunches and dinners.
One of the many things that Marimeta is known for is our food. Some say it’s the finest food in camping! The quality and variety of our cuisine is hard to beat.
